Movie tracker app that picks tonight’s film
Log the films and series you watch, with your stars and a note. Bring your history from five other services. Then let all of it shape tonight’s pick. Free, with no ads.
What Lights Down keeps track of
Everything you’ve watched lives on your Watched list, in the bottom menu.
- Tonight’s film, with tonight’s date. Watch something from your picks, tell Lights Down how it was, and it’s logged on that night.
- Anything you saw before. Tap Log a watch, find the film, and add the year you watched it, or just the decade if that’s all you remember.
- Your stars and a note. Rate it out of 5 stars, half stars included, and add a few words so you remember why.
- Rewatches. Watch a favorite again and it’s logged as a new night. The first time stays on the list.
- A running total. The top of Watched counts your films and hours, and names the genre you watch most.
Films and series, not episodes
Log a film, a whole series, or one season of a series. Lights Down doesn’t track single episodes, and it won’t tell you when a new one airs. It keeps the films and seasons you’ve finished.
Bring your history with you
You don’t have to start from zero. Lights Down reads the export file from five services and adds what it finds to Watched. The file is read on your own phone or computer, and never uploaded.
| Import from | What you watched | Your ratings | Your watchlist |
|---|---|---|---|
| Letterboxd | Yes | Yes, star for star | Yes, on its own shelf in Saved |
| Netflix | Yes. A show counts once you’ve watched 3 episodes of a season | No, Netflix keeps none | No |
| IMDb | The films and shows you rated | Yes. An 8 out of 10 becomes 4 stars | Yes, as a second file |
| Trakt | Yes, with any history you moved there from TV Time | Yes. An 8 out of 10 becomes 4 stars | Yes, on its own shelf in Saved |
| TV Time | Yes, if you saved your file before July 15, 2026. A show counts once you’ve watched 3 episodes of a season | No. TV Time kept reactions, not stars | Yes, on its own shelf in Saved |
Before anything is saved, you see every title Lights Down found and any it couldn’t match. Import again any time, and nothing doubles.
Still logging on Letterboxd?
Keep it. Add your Letterboxd username, and each time you open Lights Down, it adds the films you logged there recently. It needs a public profile. Your reviews and lists stay on Letterboxd.
Your log picks tonight’s film
Every film you log does a second job: it shapes what Lights Down picks for you. Here’s everything else the movie recommendation app learns from.
- Films you’ve seen stay out of your picks when you pick on your own.
- Your stars move your taste. Films you loved pull your picks toward more like them. Films you didn’t pull them away.
- Picks come from your services. Tell Lights Down which streaming services you pay for, once, and every pick comes from them.
- New here? The “what movie should I watch?” quiz finds your taste in 60 seconds, before you’ve logged a thing.
Your list stays yours
You don’t need an account to start. Without one, Watched stays on this device, and clearing your browser clears it. A free account keeps it on every device you sign in on.
