What does Lights Down cost?

Lights Down is free. It will stay that way, with no ads. There is a paid layer called Cinema for people who want more from their movie nights, but it is not on sale yet, so today there is nothing to buy.

Does it play the movie?

No. Lights Down picks the film or series. It tells you where tonight’s pick is streaming, and you press play there.

Do I need an account to try it?

No. Nothing is asked for before the quiz. Without an account, your profile lives only in this browser and disappears if you clear it. A free account, an email address or a Google or Apple sign-in, keeps it safe and carries it across your devices.

Can I use it with someone else?

Yes, one other person. Each of you takes the quiz once and keeps a separate profile. Lights Down finds the films where the two profiles agree. It is built for one or two people, not a group.

Lights Down is in beta. What does that mean for me?

Lights Down is being tested by real people before it opens fully. Everything works and everything is free. Some rough edges are still being sanded, some features are still on the way, and the design shifts from week to week. If you are fine with that, you are welcome.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes, in the browser. Lights Down is a web app: it runs on iPhone, Android and desktop without an install, and it can sit on your home screen like a normal app. There is no App Store or Google Play listing today.

What happens with my data?

Your email keeps your account. Your taste profile, and what you save and skip, make your picks better. That is the list. Nothing that identifies you is ever sold, there are no ads, and you can have everything deleted within 30 days by asking. The privacy policy is the binding version.
