Question 1

What does Lights Down cost?

Accepted Answer

Lights Down is free, and it will stay that way, with no ads. The quiz, your picks, your saved list and linking up with one other person cost nothing. Cinema is a paid layer for people who want more from their movie nights. It is optional, and its price is shown in full before you pay.

Question 2

Can I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

Yes, within set limits. A Founders Pass or Lifetime Pass bought on lightsdown.app can be refunded in full within 14 days, and an annual plan within 30 days of its billing date. Monthly charges are not refunded, and you can cancel any time. Anything bought in the iPhone app is sold by Apple, so Apple handles the refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. The Terms of Service have the full rules.

Question 3

How do I cancel?

Accepted Answer

Any time, online. On lightsdown.app, open Profile and tap Cancel subscription. You keep Cinema to the end of the period you already paid for, and you are not charged again. With Cinema Duo, only the person who pays can cancel. A Founders Pass or Lifetime Pass is paid once and never renews, so there is nothing to cancel. Bought in the iPhone app? Apple runs that subscription: open your iPhone’s Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.

Question 4

Does it play the movie?

Accepted Answer

No. Lights Down picks the film or series. It tells you where tonight’s pick is streaming, and you press play there.

Question 5

Do I need an account to try it?

Accepted Answer

No. Nothing is asked for before the quiz. Without an account, your profile lives only in this browser and disappears if you clear it. A free account, an email address or a Google or Apple sign-in, keeps it safe and carries it across your devices.

Question 6

Can I use it with someone else?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each of you takes the quiz once and keeps a separate profile. Most movie pickers make you both swipe the same deck. Lights Down blends your taste and theirs into one list for tonight. For a bigger night, a watch party in Lights On, the free social side of the app, takes three to eight people, and guests join from a link with no account needed.

Question 7

Does it work on my phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes. On iPhone, get Lights Down from the App Store. On Android, add it to your home screen from the browser. It opens from its own icon, full screen like any other app, with no store download, and it keeps itself up to date. On a computer, it runs in the browser with nothing to install.

Question 8

Which countries is the iPhone app in?

Accepted Answer

The iPhone app is in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, Singapore, South Africa, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Israel and the United Arab Emirates. Anywhere else, lightsdown.app works in your browser, and everything free stays free. The website does not sell Cinema to buyers in the UK or the European Union. In the UK, you can buy it in the iPhone app.

Question 9

What happens with my data?

Accepted Answer

Your email keeps your account. Your taste profile, and what you save and skip, make your picks better. We also record how the app gets used, so we can fix what confuses people. In the US that starts on, and one tap turns it off. Everywhere else, we ask first. That is the list. Nothing that identifies you is ever sold, there are no ads, and you can have everything deleted within 30 days by asking. The privacy policy is the binding version.
